You will co-lead a unique and challenging collaboration of ambitious partners to create and test a large-scale, automated biodiversity monitoring infrastructure across terrestrial, freshwater, marine and aerial habitats.

As a
Program Manager ABM

  • You help build this national infrastructure for biodiversity monitoring - You will guide development and use of an innovative, sensor-driven facility.
  • You collaborate strategically with leading institutes - You will be the central point of contact for TNO, Rijkswaterstaat (RWS), and RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) and connect the partners in a robust partnership and take care of all reporting.
  • You hold responsibility for the daily management in close collaboration with the scientific lead and responsible director and contribute to the development of the Naturalis Research infrastructure.

This is
what you'll be doing

The ABM program deepens the Naturalis Research Infrastructure with respect to automated species recognition. ABM is ambitious in developing the sensor stations, setting up data flows while producing meaningful and actionable knowledge on biodiversity monitoring. The setup is tested at the monitoring networks of RWS and RIVM. 

One of the challenges for you as program manager is to bring these partners of product development, research and actionable knowledge together in the Consortium. You oversee the workflows and know how to manage interactions between diverse stakeholders, while keeping the result in focus. Your impact on biodiversity monitoring in the Netherlands is significant in this role.

  • A gross monthly salary of € 4.532,- tot € 6.268,- for a full-time contract (36 hours).

your team

You'll join the Research Infrastructure Coordination department. A diverse, passionate, ambitious, and international team of 10-12 program managers and program assistants from our infrastructure programs. There's plenty of peer-to-peer interaction, and you contribute to the development of the Naturalis Research infrastructure. As ABM program manager, you have access to all parts of our organization, play a key role in professionalizing program management and external outlook. 

What you
bring to the table

You are result oriented and experienced in managing alignment of hardware development, dataflows and actionable knowledge on biodiversity monitoring. You communicate efficiently and professionally with internal stakeholders at management level, product owners and product teams as well as all partners to ensure smooth financial management and reporting to the funding agency. Within Naturalis you pair the ambitions of the ABM program with curiosity about related infrastructure and biodiversity monitoring programs. For this our Naturalis mission is leading. 

Furthermore you have:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in a relevant field (academic level)
  • Extensive experience as (senior) programme/project manager in an externally oriented R&D Consortium
  • Proven experience in national and international collaboration initiatives and partnership development, preferably in the Dutch context.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile, product management and project-based management methodologies
  • Solid expertise in financial management
